NLADA, the Legal Aid Society, and the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services bring you the 2026 Appellate Defender Training in New York City.

Join us for a comprehensive, hands-on training designed for appellate public defenders and advocates. The program offers a structured, skills-based approach to appellate advocacy, guiding participants through developing case theory and theme, crafting compelling narratives, writing and editing persuasive briefs, and delivering effective oral arguments.

Through a combination of focused lectures and interactive small-group workshops, participants will work on their own cases, receive expert feedback, and strengthen their written and oral advocacy. Throughout the program, client-centered representation remains a central focus, grounding advocacy in trust, communication, and the lived experiences of clients.

NLADA Members: $800
