Leading with Power, Defending Our Communities, and Advancing Racial Equity is a dynamic learning experience designed to equip Black public defenders and allies with the knowledge, skills, and leadership necessary to transform public defense and advance racial equity.

Grounded in the belief that exceptional representation requires both excellence and race-conscious advocacy, the conference explores how defenders can lead with authenticity, strengthen their advocacy, and build meaningful partnerships with the communities they serve.

Through three integrated learning tracks, Leadership that Transforms, Defending Our Communities, and Race-Conscious Advocacy Skills, participants will engage in practical, interactive sessions that address the realities of public defense while preparing them to meet the evolving challenges of the profession.

Whether developing leadership capacity, enhancing trial and advocacy skills, or advancing community-centered strategies, attendees will leave with concrete tools, innovative ideas, and a renewed commitment to creating equitable systems and delivering client-centered representation.

This conference is more than a professional development opportunity. It is a space to learn, collaborate, and build a national community of defenders committed to advancing racial equity, strengthening public defense, and transforming the profession inside and outside of the courtroom.
