Drop-in Discussions are virtual spaces for NLADA communities – Civil Legal Aid, Client, and Public Defender – to share experiences, questions, strategies and ideas with each other. NLADA staff will attend to learn from members about the issues most important to them, and to provide information when helpful to the group. These convenings are intended for advocates in the field and participation will be limited to people in such roles. NLADA membership is encouraged but not required.

Executive Directors

Starting in June

The Executive Directors Drop-in Group is a space for confidential discussion among program leaders to address the impact of federal actions on legal aid programs and services. This group will be coordinated by Management Information Exchange (MIE), and roundtable announcements will be posted on the MIE ED listserv. If you are an ED and you are not already receiving announcements, please sign up to join the MIE ED listserv. If you have any questions about this group please contact: Jared Smith (jared@mielegalaid.org) and Kesha James (kjames@mielegalaid.org). 



Community Resilience 

1st Friday of the month, 3-4pm ET; Starting in June

This Drop-In Group will provide a space for community members to discuss the impact personally and professionally of doing advocacy work. Community members will share strategies for maintaining personal wellness and community resilience. Advocates from all communities (Civil Legal Aid, Client/Community Advocate and Public Defender) are encouraged to join and contribute to this supportive space.

Funding Landscape

3rd Friday of the Month, 3-4pm ET; Starting in June

This group is designed as a space for advocates (Civil Legal Aid, Client/Community Advocates, Public Defenders) to discuss: changes to federal funding; implications for state and local funding; Private philanthropy opportunities; coalition building and other supports for access to justice efforts.

DEI/REI Coffee Hour

Last Friday of the month, 3-4pm ET; Starting in May

The DEI/REI Coffee Hour is a space for DEI practitioners to talk about their work in a supportive community of other DEI practitioners. The group will identify current challenges and brainstorm solutions to continuing DEI work.

Community Research Coffee Hour

TEMORARILY PAUSED

Our monthly Community Research Coffee Hour provides a space for community members and NLADA staff to address research needs and questions, share existing research projects and findings, and learn from research experts and scholars. Come join us to discuss and think through research and storytelling methods and learn about other members’ ongoing research projects. We look forward to hearing from you in this new space!
