Appellate Defender Training!

NLADA is partnering with the Missouri Office of the State Public Defender to bring this renowned 

appellate skills program April 23-26, 2024.


The 2024 National Appellate Defender Training (ADT) offers an intensive four-day learning experience. ADT is designed specifically for attorneys who represent indigent defendants in criminal and delinquency appeals in the state and federal court systems. This national skills training brings together court and appellate public defenders at the state and federal levels, assigned counsel, contract defenders, and Criminal Justice Act private attorneys for a multi-day program.

Program content will include:

  • Client-Centered Representation
  • Developing a Theory and Brainstorming your Case
  • Storytelling
  • Litigating Racial Injustice
  • Persuasive Brief Writing
  • Creating an Editing and Review Process
  • Developing Balance and Well-Being in your Practice
  • Oral Advocacy
